Understanding Batch Close Time
When you accept card payments throughout the day, those transactions don’t immediately deposit into your bank account. Instead, they are authorized in real-time, but not actually settled until later. That’s where the batch close comes in.
Fractal’s batch close time is 8:00 PM EST. Funds will be available the next business day.
If you transact after 8pm EST, you will not see funds next day. You will see them the following processing day.
For transactions processed Friday funds will be available on Monday, transactions processed Saturday and Sunday will be available on Tuesday
What Is a Batch Close Time?
The batch close time is the set time when your payment processor “closes” the day's transaction group and sends it off to the card networks and issuing banks for settlement (i.e., to move the money).
Why It's Important:
1. Settlement & Funding
Once the batch is closed, the processor can begin the settlement process. This is how the money actually moves from the customer’s bank to your merchant bank account. If the batch is not closed, you won’t get paid for those transactions.
2. Timing for Next-Day Funding
Fractal offers next day funding, depending on when they were processed (i.e. business day or weekend) — but only if the batch is closed by a certain cutoff time. Miss it, and you may not see those funds until an extra day later.
